We’ll do our best to keep you up-to-speed on what projects are coming up at the farm. Come on over and join in, if you’d like! Here’s this year’s wish list of projects: |
Now that we’ve gotten the beds growing, weeded, and mulched, it’s time to put in our permanent paths. We’ll be purchasing stepping stones, laying them out, and sweeping pea gravel in the cracks. |
Our arena barn is finished, and once the round pen is finished, we’ll begin to rebuild our temporary arena into something a little more permanent. HEAVY-DUTY will be the order of the day! |
We will continue to reinforce the inner fence with utility panels and strong wood posts all along the perimeter—as funds allow. We must also make repairs to the rear fence where a felled tree from a neighboring property has caused a breach. |
The outer shell of the nursery barn is in need of patching and painting. We’ll get the boards |
Now that we’ve procured a few real riding horses, it’s time to construct a good, heavy-duty round pen. We’ll begin very soon, with phase-by-phase construction as materials are available. |

Parking areas for both houses need to be repaired with a fresh layer of gravel laid down for good measure. We believe this will improve the aesthetic value of the property and help define places to park. |
Water lines must be run from our main-house well to the nursery and stud pen. With the assistance of a trencher and a few extra hands, we should be able to knock this one out in a day...hopefully... |

As if we didn’t have enough to do, we still have a whole summer full of painting projects. All wooden fences need a coat of fence-black, and the barns and main house need trim paint. Break out the brushes and rollers, folks! |
The Cottage’s perennial butterfly gardens are maturing and ready for the next phase of beds to be laid out, filled, and planted. At the top of the hill, we’re planning a nice landing with a café table to give our guests better views into the pasture. |
